About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Operations Specialist to join our team at Spartech. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our equipment and facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance and Repair: Safely complete maintenance assignments to build, repair, and maintain all equipment in good operating condition quickly and accurately, while keeping associated costs to a minimum.
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical devices in operation, dismantle and examine devices to remove and replace defective parts.
  • Equipment Setup and Operation: Set up and operate shop machinery such as drill presses, grinders, band saws, cutting torches, and welders. Use hand tools and pneumatic tools to modify or repair parts and equipment.
  • Installation and Repair: Install new or repair/modifies electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment as needed.
  • Reliability and Uptime: Improve reliability and up-time of all manufacturing and building equipment. Take a proactive approach to equipment issues with a preventive maintenance mentality.
  • Operational Support: Operate forklifts and aerial lift platforms as needed. Research supplies, parts, and tools needed to efficiently complete work orders.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in identifying and maintaining an accurate inventory of parts by effective utilization of a CMMS.
  • Record Keeping: Contribute to upkeep and updating of required records, maintenance logs, documents, manuals, drawings, etc.
  • Company Values: Support the vision, mission, and guiding principles of the company.
  • Safety and Compliance: Follow applicable Safety, Health, and Environmental rules and guidelines while performing job duties.
  • Departmental Standards: Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Skills: Basic skills on use of computers: MS Office, Windows, and Computerized Maintenance Management Software. Ability to safely operate a wide variety of tools such as hand tools, power tools, drill presses, band saws, welders, cutting torches, etc.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of mechanical systems including gearboxes, motors, air compressors, pumps, AC and DC drive troubleshooting, etc. Ability to navigate electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics for planning and troubleshooting.
  • Communication: Ability to read, communicate, and comprehend written and oral instructions in English; read and comprehend safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, equipment files, etc.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to implement, enforce, and maintain guidelines set by the Company or management. Ability to handle multiple tasks. Strong organization skills and a self-starter. Results-oriented.
  • Math Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide and the ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance. Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Industrial Experience: 5 years of prior experience in industrial maintenance, electrical, mechanical, or in a related field; or a combination of education and experience deemed equivalent.
  • Certification and Licenses: Specific Craft Certification/Licenses a plus. Technical education a plus.
