Key Responsibilities

  • Directly prepare meals and supervise a minimum of two full-time staff members in food preparation and service.
  • Provide leadership, training, and oversight for all unit activities to achieve organizational and client goals.
  • Train and manage kitchen staff while coordinating all culinary activities, ensuring adherence to food safety standards and allergen training.
  • Conduct weekly purchasing, manage monthly inventory, and ensure accurate cash handling.
  • Establish presentation techniques and quality benchmarks, as well as plan and price menus.
  • Ensure proper operation and maintenance of kitchen equipment, while upholding safety and sanitation standards.
  • Oversee special catering events and may also provide culinary instruction or demonstrate culinary techniques.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including maintaining budgeted food and labor costs, ordering supplies, and generating weekly and monthly reports.

Qualifications

  • Ideal candidates will possess a culinary degree or certification, along with seven to nine years of relevant experience.
  • Must have the culinary expertise required to forecast, prepare, and safely store all regular and catering menu items.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices within the food service industry, including food safety, budget management, and employee training and development, is essential.
  • Strong time management skills, ability to multitask, and problem-solving capabilities are required, along with excellent oral, reading, and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods.
  • Adherence to client and company protocols regarding workplace safety and sanitation standards is mandatory.
  • Ability to lift and move food, food containers, and other non-food items from floor level to a height no greater than one's own.
  • ServSafe and Allergen Awareness Certifications are required.
