Catering Event Supervisor Job Summary

The Catering Event Supervisor is responsible for overseeing catering staff at various locations. This role involves the execution of events according to guest specifications as listed on service orders. The Event Supervisor also oversees set up, delivery, service, and inventory, ensuring all safety and sanitation procedures are being properly followed. Additionally, this role involves supervising retail operations for bar and other food service venues under the Catering department.

  • Supervise retail operations for bar and other food service venues

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a food prep and/or food service position
  • Working knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment
  • Experience supervising and training personnel in proper food service techniques
  • Ability to work independently and supervise others without direct supervision
  • Proven ability to be a self-starter and demonstrate creativity
  • Ability to work with people at all levels in a professional, friendly, and helpful manner
  • Ability to manage numerous details in a multiple priority and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to write and communicate effectively in English
  • Well-organized and attentive to detail
  • Ability to exert fast-paced mobility
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and stand for four (4) hours at a time
  • Ability to visually differentiate colors for the purpose of food safety
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and do occasional heavy physical labor
  • Valid driver's license with a low-risk driving record and certifiable per University requirements
  • Ability to drive catering transport vehicles
  • Ability to work nights and weekends and adapt to a flexible schedule
  • Certification in Managerial ServSafe (or within 1 year of hire)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate Degree in Culinary Arts, Business, or Hospitality Management
  • Previous successful catering supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated experience working in a multi-event/facility or environment
  • Current Managerial ServSafe certification
  • Demonstrated professional demeanor

Special Instructions to Applicants:
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. The University does not provide work visa sponsorship for this position. Scheduling is done based on operational needs. Must be open to flexible scheduling.
