Job Summary:
The Wellness Specialist is a key member of our clinical team, providing leadership support in communities where a clinical leader may not be present. This role involves temporary coverage for the implementation, delivery, and coordination of resident clinical services at the community. The Wellness Specialist will directly supervise all team members of the nursing department, ensuring the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this department.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with state regulations governing Assisted Living by regularly reviewing regulations and implementing necessary changes.
- Perform timely and accurate resident assessments, communicating changes to the Executive Director for billing purposes.
- Manage expenses within budget parameters, utilizing spend-down sheets to ensure efficient resource allocation.
- Provide oversight of medication management, ensuring accurate MARs and timely medication administration.
- Ensure all charting is performed in a timely manner and in accordance with state regulations.
- Communicate effectively with families, promoting good relationships and keeping them informed about resident conditions and community events.
- Participate in tours and discussions with potential residents and their families, highlighting clinical needs and promoting our community's benefits.
- Assess potential residents to determine eligibility for Assisted Living.
- Create positive team member relations through staff appreciation programs, recognition of excellent performance, and retention through regular feedback systems and promotional incentive programs.
- Provide on-call backup to the community when not on duty, maintaining confidentiality of all pertinent personal or health information.
- Ensure incident reports are completed properly and promptly.
Qualifications:
- Current RN licensure with a minimum of 1 year of experience in senior housing and/or geriatric nursing.
- Minimum 2 years' experience working as a Director of Nursing or Wellness Director, with a demonstrated success in leading nursing teams to meet successful resident outcomes.
- Ability to travel to various communities within the assigned market.
- Prior management experience preferred.
- Candidate must be certified or able to become CPR and First Aid Certified within the first 90 days of employment.
- Ability to read, write, and speak the English language, and communicate effectively with residents, families, physicians, and team members.
- Ability to be on call and occasionally work nights, weekends, and holidays.
