Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team at Flatiron Construction. As a key member of our project team, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of our projects by managing cost data, monitoring project budget and estimates, and applying resource monitoring and control principles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Meet with engineering and field crews to review production schedules and confirm availability of materials, equipment, and resources.
  • Review shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements, and project data to ensure quality and contract specification compliance.
  • Provide technical input for project work plans and scheduling, identifying risk elements that could impact budget or schedule.
  • Evaluate daily production, schedule, and budget projections to track project performance and document activities in Company-approved methods.
  • Update project schedules weekly for owner and management reporting and attend weekly owner meetings to present project production status.
  • Perform additional assignments as directed by management and prepare and manage three-week work plans.
  • Initiate and manage Requests for Information (RFIs) as needed and remit accurate project quantities using assigned project cost coding.
  • Manage invoicing with Company accounting team and support engineering team with quality assurance as needed.
  • Review required Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) to ensure a safe and compliant work environment and participate in weekly safety meetings.
  • Assist estimating team with project schedule, budget, and cost parameters and assist in the development of design drawings.
  • Coordinate subcontractor work methods, schedule, and crews as needed and reconcile job close-out checklists with owner representatives and field crews.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
  • 5+ years of construction engineering experience required.
  • Experience in resource monitoring techniques and construction technology preferred.
  • Specialized technical knowledge of design build or alternative build techniques.
  • Ability to set clear expectations for direct reports and delegate work to engineering teams.
  • Advanced knowledge of contract specifications and quality assurance practices.
  • Ability to identify budget and project costs and recommend options to mitigate project delays.
  • Possess verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of design build and alternative build techniques.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting methods, quantity tracking methods, and cost coding.
