AI Research and Development Engineer

As a key member of our Perception and Safety R&D Team, you will collaborate on developing cutting-edge robotic perception technologies that enable safe interaction between humans and robots. Your expertise in machine learning-based perception models and algorithms will drive innovation in understanding the environment and recognizing humans.
This role requires charting a path by combining the best of ML with functional safety and robot behavior, ultimately creating novel solutions to one of the most critical problems in robotics. Impact You Will Make:
- Contribute to building systems allowing our robots to operate safely around people
- Develop, validate, and deploy ML models for detecting hazards, humans, and environmental features
- Integrate these models onto our robots' embedded systems for data collection and performance evaluation
- Create data sets, metrics, and validation plans for ML models
- Improve model accuracy and run-time performance on specific hardware
- Lead cross-functional technical efforts involving interdisciplinary collaboration to develop robotic systems
We Seek Someone With:
- At least 7 years of experience applying ML to robotic perception problems, preferably on embedded systems
- In-depth knowledge of state-of-the-art in related areas including human detection, autonomous vehicles, and robot safety
- Experience in developing and deploying ML-based perception software for time-sensitive control systems like robotics
- Ability to create specifications for perception systems from high-level product requirements
- Familiarity with the full lifecycle of deep learning development, including network design, data management, training, evaluation, hyperparameter search, deployment, and validation
- Strong communication skills, including authoring technical documentation and delivering presentations on technical topics
- A history of leading cross-functional technical efforts through planning, technical requirement development, and interdisciplinary collaboration
Expected Salary Range:$250,000 - $350,000 per annum, depending on location and experience
