Senior Back-end Engineer with AI Product Development and People Management Experience

Dentsply Sirona, a leading manufacturer of professional dental products and technologies, is seeking a senior back-end engineer with expertise in AI product development and people management.
The ideal candidate will join a multidisciplinary team responsible for building infrastructure around AI models in our cloud-based solution, DS Core. This role combines technical expertise with leadership abilities, allowing the successful candidate to mentor, inspire, and empower team members to meet project objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Chapter lead, responsible for people leadership, coaching, mentoring, and support
- Technical expertise, sharp knowledge of software development principles, strategies, ideas, and technologies
- Work closely with stakeholders to set clear goals for team members and ensure alignment with business and departmental goals
- Motivating, providing guidance, feedback, and performance reviews for team members, encouraging performance improvement
- Team and people development, conflict resolution, and organizing cross-chapter activities
- Engineering, system design surrounding AI/ML services, implementing microservices in Kubernetes (Docker and Terraform)
- Designing and developing testing and monitoring tools for AI/ML models, designing and building data pipelines (from storage to monitoring telemetries)
- Designing, developing, and supporting our CI/CD pipeline for AI/ML models, optimizing AI models, reducing latency and inference cost
- Collaborating with AI/ML science teams, software architects, and software development teams to bring AI/ML research to production
- Working closely with the QA team to provide SOUP validation, test documentation, IT security documentation, and regulatory compliance documentations
- Researching and adopting best MLOps practices to design and develop end-to-end machine learning pipelines
- Providing deployment tools for AI/ML scientists and maintaining experimenting tools for ML scientists
- Performing high-quality code reviews
Requirements:
- Masters or PhD degree in computer science, statistics, mathematics, or related field
- 5+ years of professional experience working in cloud infrastructure development
- 3+ years of professional experience in building and optimizing data/ML model pipelines and projects in a business environment
- 3+ years of professional experience working with common machine learning frameworks
- 6+ years proven track record of leadership qualities
Key Skills, Knowledge & Capabilities:
- Experience in Golang and Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Experience in writing and deploying microservices with Kubernetes, Docker, and Terraform
- Experience building end-to-end systems as a Software Engineer, DevOps, or Data Engineer (or equivalent)
- Experience in developing end-to-end data products handling heterogeneous data sets
- Experience with modern back-end machine learning tech stacks
- Experience in DevOps, especially with Google Cloud project configuration as a plus
- Familiarity in cloud service architecture as a plus
- Experience in one of the ML model development libraries is a plus: TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, etc.
