Supervisor: Executive Chef / Dining Manager

Position Overview:

As a Cook, directly reporting to the Executive Chef/Dining Manager, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality food preparation in compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations, while contributing to the enhancement of each resident's well-being and overall dining experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and bake a variety of dishes
  • Assist in serving meals and beverages, ensuring a clean and organized work environment
  • Support catering services, room service, and special event needs
  • Take orders for food and drinks
  • Sanitize, set, and clear tables
  • Manage food inventory and implement cost control measures
  • Understand individual assignments and resident dining preferences
  • Adhere to sanitation regulations and safety protocols in food preparation, handling, labeling, and storage
  • Complete daily kitchen and dining room checklists
  • Follow all policies established by the Dining Service Department
  • Assist with marketing initiatives to improve customer satisfaction
  • Perform additional tasks as required
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred, but relevant work/life experience will be considered
  • 2-4 years of culinary experience
  • Strong knowledge of various cooking techniques, including baking, sautéing, frying, and cold food preparation
  • Excellent knife skills and ability to follow recipes accurately
  • Thorough understanding of proper food handling practices
  • Current ServSafe Certification or willingness to obtain within the first 60 days
  • Ability to stand, walk, reach, bend, and lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs) as required
  • Team-oriented with strong customer service and communication skills
  • Self-motivated with effective organizational abilities
  • Appreciation for seniors and understanding of the aging process
  • Basic math skills
Physical Requirements:

To succeed in this role, it is essential to be prepared for interactions with residents who may display challenging behaviors. The physical demands outlined below are indicative of those necessary for job performance, and reasonable accommodations can be made for individuals with disabilities. The employee will regularly engage in activities such as sitting, standing, walking, using hands for handling and feeling, reaching with hands and arms, talking, and hearing. There may also be occasional requirements for crouching and lifting items weighing up to 50 lbs. Vision abilities should include the capacity to see both near and far distances.
