Position Overview:

As a Cook, you will report directly to the Executive Chef/Dining Manager, ensuring high-quality food preparation that adheres to Federal, State, and Local regulations. Your role is vital in enhancing the well-being and overall dining experience of our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook a variety of meals and baked goods.
• Assist in serving meals and beverages while maintaining a tidy work environment.
• Support catering services, room service, and special event needs.
• Take and process food and drink orders.
• Sanitize, set, and clear dining tables.
• Manage food inventory and implement cost control measures.
• Understand individual resident needs and preferences.
• Adhere to sanitation and safety standards in food preparation and kitchen maintenance.
• Complete daily kitchen and dining room task lists.
• Follow all policies related to the Dining Service Department.
• Contribute to sales and marketing efforts to enhance resident satisfaction.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED preferred; relevant work/life experience will be considered.
• 2-4 years of culinary experience.
• Strong knowledge of various cooking methods, including baking, sautéing, frying, and preparing sauces.
• Excellent knife skills and ability to follow recipes accurately.
• Thorough understanding of food handling practices.
• Current ServSafe Certification or willingness to obtain within the first 60 days.
• Ability to stand, walk, reach, bend, and lift heavy items as required.
• Team-oriented with strong customer service and communication skills.
• Self-motivated with excellent organizational abilities.
• Appreciation for seniors and understanding of the aging process.
• Basic math skills.

Physical Requirements:

In this role, you may encounter residents with varying behaviors, including potential verbal or physical interactions. The physical demands of this position include frequent sitting, standing, walking, and handling items. You may also need to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Vision capabilities should include the ability to see both near and far distances.
