Job Summary: The Registered Clinical Nutrition Specialist is responsible for delivering safe and effective evidence-based nutritional therapy in accordance with the standards of practice set forth by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. This role involves managing individual nutrition care in collaboration with a multidisciplinary healthcare team and other nutrition experts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of individual nutritional needs through interviews, food and nutrition histories, medical record reviews, and discussions with healthcare team members.
  • Formulate tailored nutrition plans that include dietary recommendations, meal patterns, and supplementation strategies, as well as the management of parenteral and enteral feeding protocols.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to establish patient care goals.
  • Design and oversee special dietary regimens as required.
  • Document initial assessments and ongoing nutritional care plans in compliance with established standards.
  • Evaluate the nutritional status of patients and provide recommendations for optimal care.
  • Educate individuals, families, and caregivers on general nutrition and therapeutic diets, considering their educational, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Organize and lead group nutrition classes in various topics as appropriate.
  • Engage in or conduct research related to food and nutrition to demonstrate outcomes and develop policies for diverse populations.
  • Advocate for individuals and groups regarding nutrition, health issues, and food security.
  • Participate in the development and evaluation of educational programs for dietetic interns and students.
  • Serve as a mentor and preceptor for dietetic interns and staff.
  • Carry out human resource functions such as training, scheduling, and professional development mentoring.
  • Contribute to the design of referral processes to enhance public access to Registered Dietitians.
  • Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives to document service outcomes and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements from relevant health organizations.
  • Compile statistics and complete productivity worksheets promptly.
  • Utilize electronic management tools for practice, research, and education.
  • Create and review patient education materials and menu items.

Work Environment: This position is typically performed in a clinical setting. The role requires adherence to all job-specific obligations and compliance with organizational policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree (Required)
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of related work experience (Preferred)
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support Instructor within 1 year - American Heart Association; Certified Dietitian/Nutritionist within 4 months - Default Issuing Body
