Child Psychiatrist

The Brockton Neighborhood Health Center seeks a skilled Child Psychiatrist to provide medical care and treatment to patients by professional standards and established policies and procedures. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with Primary Care Physicians and Behavioral Health Clinicians to provide a comprehensive and appropriate continuum of care.
Key Responsibilities- Assess and evaluate patient referrals from BH Clinicians.
- Perform psychiatrist diagnostic assessments for all referred patients.
- Provide direct patient care services within area of expertise.
- Manage patient medications.
- Develop and implement patient treatment plans.
- Provide consultation for primary care providers regarding patient treatment.
- Intervene and refer patients experiencing suicidal/homicidal ideation.
- Maintain a culturally sensitive practice, using interpreters and other assistance as needed.
- Provide counseling, crisis intervention, and advocacy to patients and their families.
- Refer patients to specialists and other practitioners as necessary.
- Review patient charts and ensure treatment plans are developed and followed.
- Collaborate with other caregivers regarding patient education and rehabilitation.
- Maintain collaborative relationships with other physicians, behavioral health clinicians, administration, and clinical staff.
- Provide consultation to the on-call physician for mental health emergencies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to monitor and improve patient care.
- Maintain productivity as outlined in the contracted agreement.
- Demonstrate sensitivity and respond appropriately to patient and staff communications.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
- Ensure dignity in the provision of care.
- Exercise good judgment in problem-solving and decision-making.
- Participate in interdisciplinary health care teams to provide services to patients and families.
- Provide technical assistance and training to primary care team members regarding psychotropic medications and mental illness.
- Participate in community outreach activities to identify, recruit, and educate patients.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Be pleasant, courteous, and considerate of patients and staff.
- Attend required and pertinent meetings.
- Attend scheduled supervision sessions.
- Maintain clinical competence through ongoing education and training.
