Position Overview:

The Senior Financial / Cost Analyst is accountable for overseeing the financial, accounting, and cost management functions associated with facility operations and real estate activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage finance and cost-related tasks including data gathering, reconciling expenses against commitments, and ensuring data integrity within the project tracking system.
  • Conduct financial analyses and cost forecasting for operating expense budgets related to facility and capital projects.
  • Develop and implement financial standards and procedures for projects, ensuring compliance with established control frameworks.
  • Analyze and report on project cost variances, maintaining accurate cost forecasts in alignment with the work breakdown structure.
  • Provide insights into project cost movements and progress reports, contributing to the regional capital planning process.
  • Prepare and review financial documentation for capitalization and verify budget availability for commitments.
  • Support acquisition, disposition, and maintenance of land and facilities through comprehensive financial and accounting assistance.

Essential Functions:

The primary focus at this senior level is to lead a team or function responsible for daily finance and accounting operations. This includes:

  • Reviewing project financial data for accuracy and adherence to policies.
  • Coordinating project accounting information with regional property accounting.
  • Developing and monitoring budgets and forecasts for operating costs.
  • Leading cash forecasting analysis in collaboration with management and planning departments.
  • Reviewing financial aspects of contracts and invoices.
  • Identifying and communicating potential financial impacts to regional financial leads.
  • Preparing key management cost reports and managing cost trend data.
  • Resolving invoicing issues with vendors and contractors.
  • Preparing month-end accruals and journal entries while investigating variances.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:

  • A minimum of six (6) years of experience in finance or project controls, with at least two (2) years in a construction or project management environment.
  • A Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • A strong understanding of accounting principles related to construction work in progress and capitalization.
  • Proficiency in advanced PC applications, particularly Excel and Access.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years of experience in a lead financial analysis or accounting role.
  • An MBA or relevant certifications such as CMA or CPA.
