Job Overview

The Hawai'i Health & Harm Reduction Center (HHHRC) is dedicated to providing harm reduction services to underserved communities in Hawai'i, including individuals affected by HIV, hepatitis, substance use, homelessness, and the transgender, LGBQ, and Native Hawaiian populations. HHHRC aims to connect individuals with vital resources such as housing, healthcare, entitlements, and treatment, promoting health, wellness, and systemic transformation through outreach, care services, advocacy, training, prevention, education, and capacity building.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Financial Analyst is responsible for executing professional accounting tasks. This role involves maintaining financial documentation and reports, conducting account reconciliations, supporting budgetary processes, performing internal audits, and managing accounts payable records.

This is a permanent, full-time, exempt position with HHHRC. The expected working hours are typically from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend commitments for required events. Compensation is based on experience.

REPORTING STRUCTURE:

Reports to: Finance Manager

Supervises: N/A

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process and manage all accounts receivable transactions.
  • Review and settle incoming invoices and monthly financial obligations.
  • Oversee expense monitoring for accurate classification and documentation.
  • Conduct monthly reconciliations for all banking, investment, and credit accounts.
  • Prepare and post monthly payroll, benefits, and internal allocations to the general ledger.
  • Maintain and balance general and subsidiary ledgers.
  • Administer bi-monthly payroll processing using ADP.
  • Assist with annual financial audits and programmatic evaluations.
  • Prepare tax-related documents, including 1099 forms.
  • Ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, which may evolve over time.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • Office setting with air conditioning.
  • Extended periods of sitting while using office equipment, which may lead to physical strain.
  • Regular use of computers, telephones, and office machinery.
  • Essential physical activities include standing, sitting, walking, and manual dexterity.
  • Occasional lifting of supplies and equipment, up to 50 pounds.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Ability to analyze complex accounting issues and apply critical thinking to resolve them.
  • Capacity to interpret financial data and make informed recommendations.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with general ledger responsibilities and financial statement preparation.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and common accounting software.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of one year of professional accounting experience.
  • Experience with QuickBooks is preferred.
