Job Summary

Vital Medical Transport is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to join our team. As an EMT, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and transportation services to individuals in need.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Respond to emergency and non-emergency medical calls for assistance.
  • Assess patients' conditions and determine courses of treatment.
  • Administer medications and provide medical care as outlined in Vital Medical Transport's approved Standing Medical Orders.
  • Transport patients between facilities and report observations and treatment to healthcare staff.
  • Document patient care and maintain accurate records.
  • Replace used supplies and clean equipment after each use.
  • Safely drive an ambulance and navigate through various environments.
Requirements:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • State of Tennessee Licensure as Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)-Basic.
  • Valid Driver's License with a good driving record.
  • Skills and experience with a high proficiency at the BLS level of service.
  • Current CPR Certification.
  • Interpersonal skills, including compassion, listening, and communicating.
  • Problem-solving and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • PHTLS Certificate.
  • ITLS Certificate.
  • National Registry Certifications.
Conditions of Employment:
  • Successful candidate must submit and pass a post-offer, pre-employment physical examination, drug test, and criminal background check.
  • May be required to submit to annual TB and rubella screening.
  • Work within the Vital Medical Transport Compliance Program.
  • Maintain all certifications and licenses throughout employment.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
  • Work involves exposure to the elements, extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and loud noises.
  • Must be able to work in all environments.
  • Extensive physical activity, heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling objects over 150lbs.
  • Must be able to stand, bend, kneel, walk, and lift up to 150 pounds multiple times throughout a shift.
  • Exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations. Must be able to evaluate situations, remain calm, and take control in all environments.
  • Work with blood or blood-borne pathogens. Must maintain safety protocols when working with patients.
