Position Overview
This role is integral to the College of Science and Engineering's Shared Services Team (SST). The selected candidate will be dedicated to one specific unit within the College, providing ongoing financial support and expertise.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management
  • Oversee the annual budgeting process for a designated unit, managing expenses ranging from $1-4 million.
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to unit leadership.
  • Develop forecasting tools to estimate future profit and loss.
  • Create pro forma budgets for proposed programs and initiatives.
  • Conduct ad hoc financial analyses as required.

Student Financial Services
  • Perform enrollment forecasts and project tuition revenue.
  • Manage the billing process for enrollment deposits and track new student admissions.
  • Oversee the annual scholarship application and award process.
  • Assist in tuition and fee rate development.

Accounting Duties
  • Review and authorize financial transactions, ensuring monthly reconciliations are completed.
  • Assist in the development of contracts and partnership agreements.
  • Manage financial activities related to internal and external sales.
  • Coordinate financial activities for sponsored projects.
  • Monitor endowment income and prepare transfer requests.
  • Maintain the local chart of accounts.
  • Administer the unit's PCard and manage employee travel reimbursements.

Human Resources and Payroll
  • Act as the primary contact for staff inquiries regarding HR and benefits.
  • Support hiring managers in the recruitment process.
  • Coordinate onboarding and offboarding processes for staff.
  • Oversee the annual performance review process.
  • Manage local payroll processes to ensure compliance and accuracy.

Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree with six years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in financial analysis and forecasting.
  • Background in university administration.
  • Ability to become a UMN Certified Approver within one year.

Preferred:
  • Familiarity with university financial and HR policies.
  • Experience with financial systems and budgeting processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
