Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team at Viking Engineering and Development. As a key member of our accounting department, you will be responsible for maintaining and reconciling general ledger accounts, preparing and reviewing journal entries and accruals, and supporting the team with financial analysis and reporting.


Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Close Process
    • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including the preparation and review of journal entries and accruals
    • Update supporting financial schedules and reconcile to general ledger
    • Reconcile all bank accounts
    • Cost accounting experience a plus
    • Assist in the budgeting and forecasting process
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounting processes
  • Other On-Going
    • Monitor checking account activity on a daily basis, process daily deposits, and reconcile American Express payments
    • Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, and address any exceptions
  • Payroll
    • Serve as a backup to HR and occasionally perform payroll runs
  • Customer Service
    • Provide outstanding customer service for both internal and external customers
    • Assist with analysis functions for other company departments

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent experience
  • 3-7 years of related experience
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management
  • Effective communication with all levels both inside and outside the company
  • Knowledge of sales and use tax

Preferred Skills
  • Expert at Microsoft Excel
  • Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Epicor/Kinetic experience preferred, but not required

Work Environment

This role operates in a professional office environment, and the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee may occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
