Clinical Laboratory Scientist

This position performs a variety of laboratory procedures, including specimen processing, testing, and quality control. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in laboratory science and be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including instrumentation and equipment.
- Perform quality control procedures and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Process patient specimens, including collection, handling, and distribution.
- Calculate and enter results of laboratory procedures.
- Utilize the Laboratory Information System.
- Provide notification and documentation of critical laboratory values.
- Participate in the evaluation, development, and implementation of new or updated testing procedures and protocols.
- Adapt patient assessment, treatment, and/or care methods to accommodate the unique needs of each patient.
- Bachelor's Degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution.
- One year of experience required for graduates of a clinical laboratory training program approved or accredited by NAACLS, or other organizations approved by HHS.
- Two years of approved clinical laboratory experience, which must include a clinical rotation through the following sections of the laboratory: Blood Banking, Microbiology, Chemistry, and Hematology, Immunology, and Urinalysis/Body Fluids in the U.S.
- Certification for MT, MLS, CLS, or MLT from ASCP, AMT, AAB, or HEW/HHS.
- Louisiana requires State Licensure.
