This position performs a variety of laboratory procedures, including specimen processing, testing, and reporting of results. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in laboratory science and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation and equipment
- Perform quality control procedures and troubleshoot issues
- Calculate and enter results of laboratory procedures
- Utilize the Laboratory Information System
- Process patient specimens and provide notification and documentation of critical laboratory values
- Participate in the evaluation and implementation of new testing procedures and protocols
- Adapt patient assessment and treatment methods to accommodate unique patient needs
- Adhere to the CORE values of CHRISTUS Health
- Bachelor's Degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology
- One year of experience required for graduates of a clinical laboratory training program approved or accredited by NAACLS
- Two years of approved clinical laboratory experience, including a clinical rotation through various laboratory sections
- Certification for MT, MLS, CLS, or MLT from ASCP, AMT, AAB, or HEW/HHS
- Louisiana requires State Licensure
