Key Responsibilities- Review and process documents for content, completeness, and correctness
- File documents in accordance with technical or legal procedures
- Function as a lead worker, distributing and explaining work assignments, conducting on-the-job training, and reviewing output for adherence to standards
- Perform arithmetic computations, including determining the proper formula or order of procedure to obtain the desired result
- Proofread typed materials for adherence to office rules, consistency, and appropriateness
- Read and respond to incoming correspondence, composing correspondence to answer questions about the status of unusual or non-standard actions
- Gather information for reports, determining the completeness and appropriateness of the information compiled
- Assist citizens in resolving unusual problems with requests, applications, payments, etc.
- Prepare reports and correspondence, consolidating status reports, logs, lists, and other statistical and narrative information generated by other employees
- High School Diploma or GED
- Any equivalent experience and/or training that provided the required knowledge and abilities
- Knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling
- Knowledge of standard office procedures and practices
- Knowledge of advanced arithmetic, including calculations similar to adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing mixed numbers or complex fractions
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to make independent determinations on the best possible resolution to processing problems
- Ability to develop and set up clerical procedures for the process or office activities performed
- Ability to assemble, organize, and present status information from various source materials
- Ability to proofread varying types of information for conformance with a prescribed pattern or form
- Medical insurance, including coverage for employees and their eligible dependents
- Vision and prescription coverage, including contributions may vary subject to collective bargaining agreement
- Dental coverage, including contributions may vary subject to collective bargaining agreement
- Life insurance, including a $50,000 policy for full-time employees
- Luzerne County retirement benefits, including employee contributions of 5% of earnings and the option to add to an additional voluntary contribution
