Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Histology Technician to join our team at MD Anderson Cancer Center. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for preparing histology materials for pathologist review, ensuring high-quality technical skills, and maintaining productivity standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare histology materials using established departmental procedures and demonstrate high-quality technical skills.
  • Produce histology materials at or above productivity standards.
  • Assist in training new laboratory personnel.
  • Assist with all aspects of specimen processing, including identifying, sorting, and labeling of blocks and slides.
  • Use laboratory informatics systems to document workflow, track, and identify specimens.
  • Perform all laboratory duties following established safety guidelines.
  • Review patient material as part of section quality assurance and participate in laboratory quality control processes.
  • Evaluate new equipment, procedures, and techniques and participate in implementation.
  • Prepare reagents and solutions, maintain and clean laboratory and equipment.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of Histology Technician experience or one year experience in histopathology within the last ten years under the supervision of a pathologist (certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic Pathology, or eligible).
  • Successful completion of a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS) accredited Histotechnician program.
