Job Title: Histology Specialist
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Histology Specialist to join our team at Texas Children's Hospital. As a Histology Specialist, you will play a critical role in overseeing the workflow and quality assurance duties in the Histology section of our laboratory. You will also serve as a team leader and primary trainer for the section, providing coaching and input for counseling events and performance evaluations.
Responsibilities:
* Coordinate the processes and procedures performed in the Histology/AP section
* Coach and provide input for counseling events and performance evaluations
* Develop methods, manage special projects, and perform tests
* Perform and document quality control procedures
* Perform instrument function checks, maintenance, and evaluation
* Participate in the teaching of other personnel
* Perform CoPath and other computer system operations
* Assist with regulatory (CAP, Joint Commission) compliance and inspections
Requirements:
* Associate's degree required
* One of the following certifications is required from the American Society for Clinical Pathology: HT - Histology Technician, HT - ASCP Cert- Histotechnician, or HLT - Histology Technologist
* 4 years' experience working in an anatomical pathology laboratory required
