Quality Assurance Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team at Subcom, LLC. As a Quality Assurance Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality standards in our subsea fiber optic cable manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform characterization tests on fiber optic cables, including OTDR, Chromatic Dispersion, Polarization Mode Dispersion, Electrical Tests (High Voltage, IR and DCR).
- Analyze results and ensure compliance with specifications.
- Safely operate various hand and power tools for preparing cable ends for test.
- Generate failure reports to track non-compliances.
- Interface with manufacturing, quality, management, and customer representatives professionally and respectfully.
- Follow verbal and written instructions, accept increased responsibility, and be accountable for actions.
- Follow safety guidelines (PPE, etc.) and demonstrate safe work practices.
- Maintain a good safety record, have a working knowledge of behavioral based safety initiatives, and accept responsibility to communicate unsafe situations.
- Adhere to safety and quality standards (goals and metrics) of the organization while working within a team environment.
- Represent the Company in a positive manner while interacting with customers and visitors.
- Promote job and process improvement as it relates to the department (through 5S as well as other improvement initiatives).
- Respond to multiple production assignments in a timely and efficient manner.
- Overtime may be required, based on business need; regular attendance required.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalency required.
- An associate degree with a focus on electrical or electronics, or no less than two years of related experience strongly preferred.
- Must be able to pass a written, job-related test.
- Math skills to include addition, subtraction, multiplication, division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
- Possess the mathematical skills required to work with conversion factors, formulas, and other related functions.
- Proficient computer skills, including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Positive communication style, along with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Proficient verbal and written skills which allow for accurate explanations of all situations you are responsible to manage.
- Possess the ability to react to changes of responsibility throughout the day.
- Must have the flexibility to respond to multiple assignments.
- Ability to work any shift, including days, evening, nights, and weekends as determined by Supervisor.
- Ability to speak, read, and write English with technical proficiency.
