Job Summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a skilled CT / X-Ray Technologist to join our team at Mercyhealth Crystal Lake Hospital. As a CT / X-Ray Technologist, you will be responsible for performing computed tomography procedures and related techniques, administering x-radiation to produce diagnostic images for physician interpretation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the department coordinator by providing clinical leadership and completing projects, advanced level clinical duties, and regular assignments as requested.
  • Perform diagnostic CT procedures, including selecting and operating imaging equipment, image capture devices, and accessories to successfully perform procedures.
  • Position patients to best demonstrate anatomic areas of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort, and immobilize patients as necessary.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media as appropriate to procedures performed, start and maintain intravenous access, and initiate basic life support action when necessary.
  • Provide patient education, input for supply and equipment decisions, maintain control of inventory and supplies for assigned areas, and provide practical instruction for students and partners.
  • Observe universal protocol, standard precautions, and appropriate patient identifiers, and apply principles of patient safety during all aspects of procedures, including assisting and transporting patients.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited radiography program.
  • Radiographer experience preferred if assigned to perform radiographer duties.
  • Three years experience as a CT technologist required.
  • ARRT Radiography registration required.
  • ARRT Computed Tomography registration required.
  • IEMA-DNS radiography accreditation required if working in Illinois.
  • WI-DSPS radiographer license required if working in Wisconsin.
  • Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
Working Conditions

The employee is regularly required to talk or hear, frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
