About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Manual Machinist to join our team at Tencarva Machinery Company. As a Manual Machinist, you will be responsible for setting up and operating various metalworking machine tools, including lathes, mills, and balancers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Study blueprints, sketches, and drawings to determine dimensions and tolerances of the finished workpiece
  • Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining
  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines
  • Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth, and angle of cut
  • Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine controls or control media as required
  • Verify conformance of finished workpiece to specifications
  • Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly
  • Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly
  • Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, equipment, and unit tests to ensure functionality and performance
  • Inspects, disassembles, selects parts from a repair parts list, and re-assembles rotating equipment
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1-2 years related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees
  • Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, use of whole numbers, and percentage and decimals
  • Basic computer skills and internet software knowledge
Work Environment

The work environment is a fast-paced manufacturing facility with a moderate noise level. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and outside weather conditions. The employee must be able to meet the standards outlined in the WorkSteps program satisfactorily and fulfill all essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
