Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Machinist Technician to join our team at Tencarva Machinery Company. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for setting up and operating various metalworking machine tools, ensuring high-quality results and maintaining a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces.
- Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or workpieces as guides for subsequent machining.
- Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, balancers, and other machine tools.
- Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth, and angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
- Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine controls or control media as required.
- Verify conformance of finished workpieces to specifications.
- Fits and assembles parts into complete assemblies.
- Verifies dimensions and alignment of assemblies.
- Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, equipment, and unit tests to ensure functionality and performance.
- Inspects, disassembles, selects parts from a repair parts list, and re-assembles rotating equipment.
- Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
- Maintain the shop area in a safe, clean, and working order.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1-2 years related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
- Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, use of whole numbers, and percentage and decimals.
- Basic computer skills and internet software knowledge.
- Ability to operate various machine tools, including mills, lathes, balancers, and other equipment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
