About Saladin Pump & EquipmentSaladin Pump & Equipment is an industrial pump distributor based in Beaumont, TX, with a satellite office in Lake Charles, LA. Founded in 1985 and acquired by Tencarva in 2018, we cater to the southeast Texas and southwest Louisiana markets, serving industrial plants. Our core territory includes five counties in Texas and five parishes in Louisiana.
Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Manual Machinist to join our team. The successful candidate will set up and operate various metalworking machine tools, maintaining a high quality of service. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to read mechanical drawings and work independently.
Key Responsibilities- Study blueprints, sketches, and drawings to determine dimensions and tolerances of the finished workpiece.
- Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.
- Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and accessories on machines such as mills, lathes, and balancers.
- Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth, and angle of cut.
- Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine controls as required.
- Verify conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.
- Set up and operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
- Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly.
- Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly.
- Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, equipment, and unit tests to ensure functionality and performance.
- Inspects, disassembles, selects parts from a repair parts list, and re-assembles rotating equipment.
- Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
- Maintain the shop area in a safe, clean, and working order.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED), or 1-2 years related work experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
The successful candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to read mechanical drawings and work independently. They will also have basic computer skills and internet software knowledge.
The physical demands of this position are considered very heavy work. The employee must be able to exert force over 100 pounds occasionally, and more than 50 pounds frequently; climb, balance, stop, kneel, crouch, reach overhead, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, finger, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions.
The work environment is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and outside weather conditions; to wet and/or humid conditions; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
