Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic to join our team at Stony Brook Medicine. As a key member of our emergency medical services team, you will be responsible for providing advanced life support care to patients in the out-of-hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide patient assessment, stabilization, and transportation to medical facilities by ground or air.
  • Administer medications, perform advanced medical procedures, and use specialized equipment to provide critical care.
  • Collaborate with out-of-hospital medical providers to relay medical orders and maintain accurate records.
  • Maintain equipment and medical supplies, operate ambulances, and coordinate transportation.
  • Provide direct patient care aboard Suffolk County Police Medevac Helicopter.
  • Precept students in the clinical setting and orient new students.
  • Provide administrative support to the Emergency Services Coordinator.
  • May supervise Emergency Medical Technicians.
Requirements
  • New York State Health Department certification as an Emergency Medical Technician- Paramedic.
  • Appropriate New York State driver's license for the type of vehicle to be operated.
  • Preferred certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS), Pre Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS), National Registry.
