Mobile Loaves & Fishes is a social outreach ministry that has been empowering communities into a lifestyle of service with the homeless since 1998. Our organization serves its homeless neighbors through three core programs: Truck Ministry, Community First Village, and Community Works.

About the Role

The Staff Accountant is an integral part of the Accounting Team. This role will assist with the full accounting cycle, financial and analysis reporting, and day-to-day financial matters of the organization, ensuring the application of sound accounting principles and practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in month-end and year-end close process by preparing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and other supporting schedules.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports for senior management and the Board of Directors.
  • Reconcile and prepare monthly Restricted Fund Reporting.
  • Provide support to departments on budget data analysis.
  • Assist in annual Budgeting process.
  • Prepare expense analysis reporting in compliance with federal funding requirements.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual compliance reports to different bank institutions.
  • Coordinate with other programs to compile all compliance reports on construction projects.
  • Reconcile and prepare reports for construction building spending and budget analysis.
  • Assist in Accounts Payable billing recording process.
  • Assist in Corporate Card recording process.
  • Analyze and make recommendations on expense saving strategies.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively and as a team member with staff and other constituents and stakeholders.
  • Assist with general accounting projects and other ad-hoc financial reports as needed.
Requirements
  • Commitment to serving those who have experienced homelessness and personal alignment with Mobile Loaves & Fishes' vision, mission, core values, and goals.
  • Advocate for individuals experiencing homelessness and the working poor.
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field preferred.
  • Excellent accounting and analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial reports and thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP requirements.
  • Proficient in the use of accounting software systems, particularly Sage Intacct.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel.
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented.
  • Desire and ability to work within tight timeframes and deadlines.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • A collaborative spirit and ability to work well individually, as well as with a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work joyfully and connect with diverse populations and organizations.
  • Demonstrates integrity and strives for excellence in their work.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
