The University of Alabama seeks a highly skilled and dedicated Preschool Teacher Assistant to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children ages two months to five years. This role requires close collaboration with the preschool teacher in planning and managing a classroom of children, assuming the lead role when the teacher is working with students, parents, administrators, and/or faculty.
Key Responsibilities- Provide a safe and healthy learning environment for all children in their care.
- Monitor and document activities for practicum students, supervise interns, and substitute teachers.
- Model developmentally appropriate practice for students observing and participating in the classroom.
- Assume full responsibilities for children and students participating in the classroom in the absence of the lead teacher.
- Communicate daily reports of children's activities and/or behavior to parents during pick-up.
- High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of childcare experience.
- Associate's degree or higher and some childcare experience.
- Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or a related field.
