Position Overview
The role of a Nursing Assistant is vital in supporting patients to achieve optimal independence in their daily activities. This position involves executing both direct and indirect nursing tasks, as well as technical and laboratory functions, in line with the policies and procedures of the healthcare facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivering Nursing Care:
- Administers essential nursing services to designated patients under the supervision of a registered nurse.
- Provides personal hygiene assistance and supports patients with daily living activities; executes assigned treatments and procedures.
- Monitors and records vital signs, reporting any significant changes to the supervising nurse.
- Observes and communicates any unusual patient conditions to the registered nurse.
- Prepares patients for mealtime and assists with feeding as required.
- Ensures constant monitoring of patients needing additional security to avert harmful actions.
- Adheres to infection control protocols and prioritizes patient safety.
- Safely assists patients in transferring to wheelchairs or stretchers as necessary.
- Collects required specimens as instructed, such as urine or sputum samples.
- Maintaining Patient Environment:
- Contributes to a safe and clean atmosphere in patient rooms.
- Engages in maintaining cleanliness in work areas.
- Restocks supplies as needed to ensure readiness.
- Collaborating within the Healthcare Team:
- Accepts assigned duties, seeks clarification when needed, and executes tasks effectively.
- Regularly reports patient care observations and findings to the registered nurse.
- Actively participates as a key member of the nursing team, taking on additional responsibilities as necessary.
- Enhances professional skills by attending educational programs.
- Additional Duties:
- Performs other related responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Completion of a Nurse Assistant Program is preferred.
- A minimum of one year of relevant experience is preferred.
Compensation Information
The salary range for this position is $21.57 to $23.77 per hour. This range represents a good faith estimate of potential base compensation for successful applicants and may be adjusted in the future based on various factors, including location, specialty, service line, relevant experience, education, and internal equity considerations.
