Job Title: Special Education Teacher

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team at Federal Way Public Schools. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a critical role in providing individualized support to students with diverse learning needs.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with significant disabilities. You will work closely with students, parents, and other educators to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement IEPs for students with significant disabilities
  • Provide individualized instruction and support to students in a functional core program
  • Collaborate with students, parents, and other educators to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment
  • Collect and analyze data to inform instructional decisions and make data-driven decisions
  • Design and implement interventions to support student learning and progress
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and other educators to ensure student success
Requirements:
  • Current Washington state teaching certificate with a special education endorsement
  • Experience working with students with significant disabilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and other educators
  • Knowledge of special education laws and policies
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Training or experience in serving students with moderate to severe disabilities
  • Proficiency in conducting functional behavior assessments and developing behavior intervention plans
  • Bilingual
Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, requiring strong organizational and time management skills. The position will involve working with students with significant disabilities, which may require physical stamina and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
