Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Sustainability Energy Analyst is essential in advancing energy efficiency and environmental sustainability by executing energy assessments for residential buildings. This position encompasses a variety of responsibilities aimed at uncovering energy-saving possibilities, coordinating weatherization initiatives, and fostering communication among homeowners, tenants, and service providers. The Sustainability Energy Analyst will also assist in ensuring compliance with governmental regulations, maintain client documentation, and contribute to the overarching goal of fostering a more sustainable future.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform energy assessments in accordance with Department of Energy standards and utility company guidelines, including heat loss evaluations, blower door assessments, and combustion efficiency evaluations.
  • Inspect heating systems and burner codes to guarantee safety and adherence to regulations.
  • Calculate project costs, assess insulation requirements for attics and walls, and determine ventilation needs for attics.
  • Analyze heating system performance, conduct carbon monoxide assessments, and comply with A.S.H.R.A.E. ventilation criteria.
  • Execute blower door and zonal pressure evaluations.
  • Delegate tasks to contractors on a rotational basis.
  • Serve as a liaison between property owners and tenants to facilitate the completion of necessary documentation.
  • Maintain precise client records to monitor progress and ensure adherence to standards.
  • Conduct on-site evaluations and quality assurance visits as necessary and accompany officials during site inspections.
  • Participate in training sessions as required.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Proficiency in computer software systems.
  • Exceptional organizational abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with clients and contractors.
  • Self-driven, capable of working independently, and maintaining a professional demeanor.
  • Successful completion of appropriate background checks within the initial employment period.
  • Ability to effectively engage with diverse communities and underserved populations, reflecting the agency's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of local housing construction and conservation materials, including the ability to prepare cost assessments.
  • Certification as a Weatherization Auditor in Massachusetts.
  • Possession of a minimum 10-hour OSHA certification.
  • Lead Renovator certification (RRP).
  • Familiarity with pressure testing and Combustion Appliance Zone testing.
