**Job Summary**

We are seeking a skilled Transportation Specialist to join our team at Friends of Children with Special Needs. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for safely transporting passengers with developmental disabilities.

About the Role

The successful candidate will operate our buses designed with wheelchair lifts and seats, ensuring a safe and courteous experience for all passengers. Your duties will include route planning, assisting clients board the bus, monitoring client behaviors, and other assigned tasks. You will interact respectfully with clients and serve as their trusted transportation to and from our organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct efficient route planning to ensure timely and reliable transportation services.
  • Provide safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services by boarding and unboarding passengers on vehicles, including wheelchair lifting and securing.
  • Perform inspections of the bus before and after each route and document the inspection, reporting any maintenance issues to your supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Complete all required paperwork, including route sheets, time, mileage & passenger recording, fuel records, and vehicle repair requests, and submit to your supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Evaluate and mitigate potential hazards to maintain a safe environment for all passengers.
  • Maintain a clean and mechanically sound bus at all times.
  • Supervise clients' behavior to maintain a safe environment.
  • Deliver vehicles for regular maintenance and repair appointments.
  • Prepare for annual CHP inspection.
  • Attend all assigned training, safety meetings, and in-service meetings.
  • Develop and maintain a cooperative attitude with fellow employees, supervisors, parents, and passengers.

Requirements

  • A valid Class B driver's license with 5-year experience of passenger endorsement.
  • Clean driving record with no at-fault accidents or traffic citations within the last five years.
  • Two or more years of experience working with the disabled is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the local city area.
  • Punctuality and reliability.
  • A sincere desire to work with individuals with disabilities.
  • Excellent communication and decision-making skills.
  • A valid CPR and First Aid Certificate.
