Alexandria, Virginia, United States Guidepost Montessori Full time
Join Guidepost Montessori to make a difference in education.

We are looking for a passionate and visionary individual to take on a dual role: (1) leading an elementary classroom and (2) collaborating with top-tier professionals to explore new methodologies and enhance our educational offerings. You will receive comprehensive, hands-on training; work alongside exceptional colleagues nationwide; and empower your students to shape their futures.

At Guidepost, we envision a transformative approach to nurturing human potential. Picture an elementary classroom tailored for students. Instead of traditional desk arrangements, envision flexible seating that fosters teamwork, engaging discussions, and focused individual work. Imagine a vibrant environment filled with enriching materials, greenery, and inspiring artwork. Consider a makerspace that encourages creativity. Visualize a thoughtfully designed curriculum that spans from early childhood to adulthood, rooted in developmental principles and promoting student autonomy. Imagine collaborating with like-minded educators who share your enthusiasm for teaching and the profound impact of education.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage a close-knit Montessori elementary classroom (serving grades 1-6) as a full-time educator
    • Facilitate a mixed-age group of students through personalized small group and individual lessons, follow-up activities, and real-world applications across all subjects.
    • Collaborate with our educational specialists to develop lesson plans that challenge and engage every student.
    • Partner with our experts to cultivate a classroom atmosphere that values thoughtful decision-making and inquisitive exploration.
    • Maintain regular communication with families to provide insights into their child's academic, social, and emotional development.
    • Work closely with a team that includes your co-teacher, school leadership, and program support coach to continuously assess and enhance your classroom environment.
  2. Engage in a community of educators and innovators focused on developing a groundbreaking national program
    • Participate in a fully-funded two-year accredited teacher training program to earn your Montessori elementary credential, with tailored coaching and guidance.
    • Collaborate with our local middle school and online education staff to experiment with differentiated and optimized learning experiences that cater to students' diverse needs and interests.
    • Regularly interact with our research and development team to evaluate successes, identify areas for improvement, and implement effective strategies for enhancing student experiences.
We invite you to connect with us if:
  • You are eager for personal and professional development and seek a career that will challenge, inspire, and surprise you.
  • You possess deep knowledge and enthusiasm for a particular subject or activity. Elementary students are curious learners who enjoy exploring topics like dinosaurs, space, and crafts. Do you have a passion you wish to share?
  • You appreciate the significance of history. The Montessori curriculum is deeply rooted in historical understanding. While you need not be a historian, a genuine interest in history and a desire to share this with students is essential.
  • You have meaningful experience working with elementary-aged children and value this remarkable age group.
  • You recognize the importance of a strong partnership with families for student success and are eager to collaborate with parents as much as you are to support their children.
  • You are ready to embrace a new educational philosophy that emphasizes individual student agency and in-depth intellectual exploration.
Benefits:
  • 75% tuition discount for two children at any school within our network.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Flexible tax-advantaged spending accounts (medical, transit, dependent care).
  • 401(k) retirement savings plan.
  • Flexible time off options: choose between a 10- or 12-month schedule, including spring and winter breaks.
  • 100% tuition discount for enrollment in any Montessori training program through the Prepared Montessorian Institute.
About Guidepost Montessori

Our mission is to change the world through education. Founded by a group of educators and visionaries, we aim to revolutionize the educational landscape. We challenge conventional norms and strive for a classroom environment where children explore the depths of knowledge and aspire to intellectual excellence—on their own terms. If you believe in the importance of critical knowledge and the necessity for children to take charge of their learning journey, Guidepost is the right place for you.

Rooted in the Montessori tradition, we advocate for an open-ended, self-directed learning environment where children choose their activities and work at their own pace. We provide structure through a coaching-based approach, helping children set their weekly goals while serving as their guides and accountability partners. We have invested years in developing a rich and comprehensive curriculum across various subjects, ensuring that our educators are well-equipped to deliver this content effectively. Our accredited teacher training program prepares our educators to create a fully individualized yet engaging classroom experience.

Guidepost Montessori encompasses a network of over 130 schools globally, serving students from infancy through high school. Our collaborative network provides resources and support that far exceed those of individual schools. Our educators share insights and resources nationwide, and our trainers work closely with each new team member to ensure their success. Our students have the opportunity to connect across campuses, engage in virtual learning, and build friendships that span great distances.
