Core Purpose:

The primary aim of this role is to ensure cleanliness and orderliness across various locations within Sacramento Social Services. This position also involves the delivery and collection of supplies, as well as managing non-confidential internal mail. Responsibilities include receiving, storing, and distributing materials, tools, and equipment. Occasionally, the role may require transporting individuals to or from Salvation Army programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform cleaning tasks such as dusting, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and vacuuming.
  • Maintain cleanliness in restrooms and replenish supplies as needed.
  • Clean windows, walls, and furniture to ensure a tidy environment.
  • Replace air conditioning filters and keep track of janitorial supply inventory.
  • Manage waste disposal by emptying trash and garbage containers.
  • Conduct minor maintenance tasks including painting, plumbing, and electrical work.
  • Report any sanitary or safety hazards to the supervisor.
  • Maintain outdoor areas by cleaning debris from sidewalks and parking lots.
  • Execute routine security tasks such as turning off lights and locking doors.
  • Notify management of any vandalism or theft immediately.
  • Care for lawns, shrubs, and parking lots associated with Family Services facilities.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED is required, along with one to three months of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates should possess a working knowledge of cleaning methods and materials, as well as the ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to perform physical tasks such as sitting, walking, standing, bending, and lifting up to 100 pounds. Candidates must be capable of operating cleaning machines and groundskeeping equipment safely.

Licenses & Certifications:

A valid California Class C driver's license is required, along with the ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle. Candidates must be at least 21 years old and complete the Salvation Army's Decision Driving course training.
