Purpose:

The primary objective of this role is to maintain cleanliness and orderliness across various locations within Sacramento Social Services. This position also involves the delivery and collection of supplies and non-confidential internal mail, as well as the receipt, storage, and distribution of materials, tools, and equipment. Occasionally, the role may require transporting individuals to and from Salvation Army programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform cleaning tasks including dusting, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and vacuuming.
  • Maintain restrooms by cleaning and disinfecting, as well as replenishing supplies.
  • Clean windows, walls, and furniture to ensure a tidy environment.
  • Replace air conditioning filters and manage janitorial supply inventory.
  • Empty trash receptacles and maintain the facility by performing minor repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Report any major repair needs or safety hazards to management.
  • Clear debris from outdoor areas including sidewalks and parking lots.
  • Assist with moving furniture and equipment as necessary.
  • Conduct routine security checks, such as turning off lights and locking doors.
  • Maintain the landscaping and outdoor areas of the Family Services facility.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED is required, along with one to three months of related experience or training. A combination of education and experience will also be considered.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of cleaning methods and materials.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Capability to follow safety protocols related to hazardous materials.
  • Proficiency in using cleaning equipment and materials.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Certificates and Licenses:

A valid California Class C driver's license is required, along with the ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle. Candidates must be at least 21 years old and complete necessary driving training.

Physical Requirements:

Candidates must be able to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 100 pounds, standing, walking, bending, and operating cleaning and groundskeeping equipment.
