Overview of Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the lead educator, the Early Childhood Instructional Support Specialist plays a vital role in facilitating the implementation of the Preschool educational program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the educator in executing the educational and social development program for preschool-aged children.
  • Support the teacher in ensuring the safe arrival and departure of children each day.
  • Monitor children during instructional activities.
  • Engage small groups of children in activities that promote gross motor skills, play, personal hygiene, and social skills.
  • Prepare and oversee meal times, including breakfast and lunch, for children during center activities.
  • Provide behavioral guidance and support to students.
  • Assist in managing classroom behavior and implementing behavior modification strategies.
  • Support field trips, community engagement activities, and other related events.
  • Assist children with personal care needs.
  • Help in the creation, organization, and distribution of educational materials.
  • Report any student concerns to the educator promptly and assist in resolving issues.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Regular attendance is essential.

Qualifications

The candidate must be capable of lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds frequently and 25 to 50 pounds occasionally, and may need to assist, move, or manage students in safety-related situations. While fulfilling the responsibilities of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, lift, walk, stand, and hear.

The ideal candidate will possess a general understanding of the methods and techniques utilized in special education settings; the ability to maintain records and confidentiality; proficiency in operating audiovisual, standard office, and computer equipment; capability to use adaptive equipment; and the ability to foster effective working relationships with educators, parents, students, and administrators.

The candidate must hold an associate degree or a Child Development Associate credential, or be enrolled in a program leading to an associate or bachelor's degree, or be enrolled in a Child Development Associate credential program to be completed within two years of hire. A bachelor's degree or higher in early childhood education is preferred.

Compensation

The minimum salary for this full-time position is $25,647, with the annual salary prorated based on the official start date.
