The Speech Therapy Assistant plays a vital role in delivering coordinated speech therapy support to patients across various age groups, working under the guidance of a Licensed Speech Language Pathologist.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

To excel in this position, the individual must effectively carry out the essential functions outlined below.

  • Implements the speech therapy treatment plan established by the Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Adheres to infection control protocols and standard precautions while performing patient care tasks.
  • Accepts clinical responsibilities that align with their education and expertise in patient care.
  • Utilizes strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Completes required continuing education to maintain professional standards.
  • Facilitates compliance with all fiscal intermediary and/or third-party payer requirements through education and support.
  • Exhibits dedication to professional development and competency.
  • Undertakes additional related duties and responsibilities as necessary.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

The qualifications listed below are indicative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform this role.

Education and Experience:

  • Graduated from an accredited program for speech therapy assistants with a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Minimum of one year of experience as a Speech Therapy Assistant in a healthcare or rehabilitation environment.
  • Experience in pediatric and home health settings is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Possession of a current Texas State License to practice speech therapy.
