Job Summary

Lock Joint Tub is seeking an experienced Tube Mill Operator to join our team. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for operating one or more mills that form steel coils into welded tubing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Discuss order status with previous shift and obtain next order for review with Service and Takeoff Operators, Saw Operator, and Mair Operator.
  • Perform initial mill setup operation and verify staged material and packaging matches shop orders.
  • Manually check scarfing tool and replace if necessary, retrieve samples, measure samples, and make adjustments as needed.
  • Enter results in WIP system, visually verify tubing, and generate production tags.
  • Recheck tubing every 10-20 minutes and retrieve samples, and review all shop orders with Service Operator, Saw Operator, and Mair Operator.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, and fill out production reports including downtime.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
