Position Summary:
The Clinical Laboratory Technologist is responsible for conducting routine and advanced biological and biochemical analyses on various specimens, including blood, urine, tissues, and body fluids. These tests are crucial for assisting healthcare professionals in diagnosing and managing patient care effectively.
This role involves identifying results or issues that necessitate consultation with a Technical Specialist, Pathologist, or Administrative Coordinator. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the Chairman of Pathology or their designee.Qualifications:
Preferred:
A Bachelor of Science degree in medical technology is preferred.
A minimum of three years of clinical laboratory experience with a focus on moderate to high complexity testing, along with successful competency assessment. Experience in Hematology and Flow Cytometry is highly desirable.
Registry with a recognized medical technology board, such as the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, is preferred.
Work Schedule:
Full Time
10 am - 6 pm, Monday to Friday, with a rotating Saturday schedule (7.5 hours)
Key Responsibilities:
Comply with safety protocols for the handling and disposal of specimens, chemicals, and biohazardous materials; ensure a clean and safe work environment while maintaining patient and professional confidentiality.
Assume supervisory duties when designated in the absence of a Technical Specialist or Senior Technologist.
Complete mandatory training promptly and engage in ongoing education initiatives (in-service training, continuing education, etc.).
Prioritize work assignments effectively, giving immediate attention to STAT requests while managing multiple tasks concurrently.
Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, technologists, clerical staff, phlebotomists, and students regarding specimen or result inquiries.
Assess specimen acceptability and resolve discrepancies with accessioning personnel, procurement dispatch technicians, nursing staff, physicians, and other team members.

Procedure Manual).Input, modify, and manage orders in the Laboratory Information System based on requisitions or verbal requests from physicians or nursing units; forward requisitions for billing purposes.
Maintain an adequate supply of reagents and materials by conducting scheduled inventory checks and monitoring expiration dates; document lot numbers and expiration dates in designated logs.
Ensure positive identification of specimens throughout processing and testing; consult with Technical Specialists or Pathologists for unusual requests to obtain appropriate guidance.
Execute and document necessary quality control procedures; record corrective actions taken or justifications for accepting out-of-range results; inform Technical Specialists if further action is required.
Regularly review policy, procedure, and instrument manuals to ensure compliance; stay updated on current practices; participate in the training and orientation of new staff members.Benefits and Perks:
