Chief Anatomic Technologist

At RWJBarnabas Health, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Anatomic Technologist to lead our surgical pathology and autopsy department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for coordinating activities, assisting pathologists and residents, and overseeing the triaging and preparation of specimens for ancillary studies.

• Provide leadership and technical oversight of the Autopsy Services/Surgical Pathology section.
• Assist pathologists in processing surgical and autopsy material for bioanalytic procedures.
• Identify, process, and send out tissue samples for patients involved in clinical trials and ancillary tests/studies.
• Perform all system functions necessary to achieve timely reporting of results.
• Assist in performing autopsies, including removal of organs, weighing organs, and preparing specimens for examination.
• Maintain open lines of communication with funeral directors and ensure correct accessioning and preparation of surgical specimens and frozen sections.
• Troubleshoot issues in the gross room and morgue, and work closely with technologists/technicians in the histology lab and nursing staffing office.
• Participate in hospital-wide initiatives to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the morgue/gross room.

• Bachelor of Science degree in sciences preferred.
• At least 3 years technical experience.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
• Computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint required.
