Position Overview: Evening Custodial Specialist

Purdue University Northwest's Building Services department is looking for an Evening Custodial Specialist to maintain the cleanliness and safety of our facilities on the Hammond Campus. This role is crucial in ensuring that all assigned areas meet the highest standards of hygiene and appearance. The specialist will work closely with clients to minimize disruptions and enhance satisfaction while adhering to scheduled cleaning frequencies. Additionally, this position may involve coordinating and overseeing the work of other custodial staff.

Compensation:
  • $16.00 per hour
Work Schedule:
  • Monday - Friday, 5 PM - 1 AM
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with office, furniture, and equipment relocations
  • Disassemble and reassemble items as necessary for efficient moving
  • Collaborate with clients to schedule deliveries and placements of furniture or equipment
  • Perform various cleaning tasks, including mopping, sweeping, scrubbing, and waxing floors
  • Sanitize restrooms and replenish supplies
  • Clean walls and windows
  • Utilize various cleaning agents, ensuring proper mixing and labeling
  • Support team members in maintaining cleaning schedules and recycling duties
  • Respond to service requests and report any damages or issues to the supervisor
  • Conduct cleanup operations following incidents such as floods or vandalism
  • Operate and maintain cleaning equipment, including vacuums and floor machines
  • Work independently with minimal supervision to meet the custodial needs of the facility
  • Maintain public areas, including entranceways and stairwells
  • Change light bulbs as needed
  • Perform recycling duties across campus buildings
