Job Title: Senior Level Diesel Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Level Diesel Technician to join our team at Ryder System in Richmond, VA.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including routine preventative maintenance, basic diagnostics and repairs, and complex mechanical inspections and repairs.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform standard vehicle maintenance and preventive maintenance tasks
  • Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer tools
  • Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
  • Replace defective components as instructed
  • Work unsupervised on most tasks and interact with customers/drivers to properly determine the nature of complaints
  • Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
  • Work in accordance with all federal and corporate compliance guidelines
  • Act as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
  • Demonstrate the ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents
  • Perform other support duties as required to support operations
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational or technical certification or post-secondary degree preferred
  • Basic tools required
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines
  • Three years or more relevant work experience preferred
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
  • All other certification as required by location
