**School Maintenance Specialist**

at ACCEL Schools Central Point Preparatory Academy. **ACCEL Schools** is in search of a dedicated **School Maintenance Specialist** to ensure the cleanliness and safety of our educational environment.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Maintain the safety, security, and cleanliness of the school premises at all times.
  • Conduct routine cleaning, housekeeping, and basic maintenance tasks as outlined in the custodial duty listing, including but not limited to:
    • Disposing of waste properly.
    • Wiping down surfaces such as blackboards, handrails, doors, and other areas as necessary.
    • Replacing light bulbs.
    • Vacuuming and mopping floors effectively.
    • Cleaning windows and sanitizing restrooms for students and staff.
    • Assisting in the upkeep of the food service area.
    • Performing painting tasks as required.
    • Setting up and dismantling lunch tables in the multi-purpose room as needed.
    • Executing basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry repairs as necessary.
    • Overseeing the external appearance of the building, including parking lots, playgrounds, sidewalks, steps, and lawns.
    • Carrying out snow removal duties, including shoveling, snow-blowing, and salting walkways and steps.
    • Buffing and waxing floors as required.
    • Preparing the school for special events, such as meetings and open houses.
    • Ensuring that electronic security systems and emergency systems are functioning correctly.
    • Reporting any damage or wear and tear to the School Leader to initiate repair or replacement plans.
    • Demonstrating a willingness to accept training and apply learned skills.
    • Maintaining all tools, supplies, and machinery used in daily operations.
    • Responding to extraordinary event days to inspect the building and ensure safety.
    • Contributing to a positive school climate by exhibiting high professional standards.
    • Understanding and implementing the school's philosophy and mission statement in all activities.
    • Performing other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications:**

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of federal and state criminal background checks.
  • Ability to perform physical work in various weather conditions.
  • Capability to lift and/or move up to 75 lbs.
  • Proficiency in using indoor and outdoor cleaning equipment.
  • Availability to report to work outside of regular school hours.
  • Demonstrated punctuality and reliability in attendance.
  • Knowledge of safe cleaning and disposal methods for hazardous materials.
  • Basic understanding of electrical and plumbing repair tasks.
  • Experience in an urban environment is advantageous.
