The Lung and Sleep Center of North Texas is a leading pulmonary and sleep medicine clinic dedicated to delivering comprehensive medical treatment. We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented Front Desk Medical Receptionist to join our dynamic team.

Job Description

We are looking for a warm and empathetic professional to be the first point of contact for our patients. Your excellent organizational skills and outstanding communication abilities will play a crucial role in ensuring our patients receive efficient service.

  • Schedule and check-in patients, answer telephones, obtain/verify patient insurance/benefits, manage incoming referrals and faxes, contact patients for medical information, support the billing team, etc.

You will work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating flexibility in duties, working independently, and as a team player. Respect for others and project management skills are essential.

Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  1. Obtain pre-authorizations & manage incoming referrals from other physicians.
  2. Maintain waiting room.
  3. Patient Check-In/Check-Out: Greet patients, verify their information, collect co-pay and/or deductible, and assist with necessary paperwork for appointments.
  4. Appointment Scheduling: Efficiently manage appointment bookings, register and schedule patients to ensure the clinic's schedule runs smoothly.
  5. Telephone and Email Communication: Answer multiple phone lines, handle patient inquiries, appointment confirmations, and general queries via phone and email while documenting encounters in the electronic medical records system.
  6. Insurance Verification: Verify patient insurance information and ensure accurate billing details are collected.
  7. Medical Records Management: Maintain organized and up-to-date medical records for each patient.
  8. Patient Assistance: Provide directions, information, and support to patients as needed.
  9. Collaboration: Coordinate with medical staff, administrators, and other departments to ensure efficient patient flow.
  10. Adherence to Protocols: Follow clinic policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines, including HIPAA.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, insurance verification procedures, and appointment scheduling.
  • Empathetic and friendly demeanor, with the ability to provide exceptional patient care.
  • Previous experience as a medical receptionist or in a customer-facing role, ideally within a healthcare setting.

Preferred:

  • Ability to cross-train with back office.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, insurance procedures, and appointment scheduling.
  • Ability to work M-Th 8:30-5pm, F 8:30-1pm.
Compensation

A competitive salary starting from $16.50 per hour or depending on experience (DOE) is offered.
