Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned professional to lead our semantic technology efforts as the Data Modeling and Ontology Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise ontologies that support our data strategy.

About the Role
  • Develop domain ontologies in collaboration with various business lines and functions to support enterprise initiatives
  • Partner with technology teams to integrate semantic technology into our products and services
  • Maintain awareness of industry developments related to ontology use, knowledge organization, and data modeling
Key Responsibilities
  1. Data Model Development: Develop clear and actionable problem statements to help teams deliver results while showcasing a comprehensive understanding of ontologies and optimized data models
  2. Roadmap Prioritization: Own and prioritize the near-term ontology and data modeling roadmap to deliver on business outcomes, quickly identifying points of leverage in complex problems or systems
  3. Tech Partnerships: Utilize balanced judgment in decisions about risks of both actions taken and not taken while innovating on ways to iterate faster in a well-managed way for the immediate team
  4. Knowledge Organization: Understand and leverage technology and end-state architecture vision in partnership with technology, machine learning, and other Capital One teams to support the development and integration of semantics in Capital One products and services
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in information science, computer science, engineering, library science, ontology, semantics, or computational linguistics
  • At least 4 years' experience in metadata fields of work (ontology, taxonomy, semantics, or computational linguistics)
  • Experience working with W3C standards, including linked and canonical data, and ontologies (JSON, XML, RDF, RDFS, OWL, and SKOS)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree or PhD in information science, computer science, engineering, library science, ontology, semantics, or computational linguistics
  • Familiarity with graph databases and technologies
  • Familiarity with Python or R programming languages
Estimated Salary

$163,300 - $186,400 per year, depending on location and experience
