Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Cardiac Catheterization Technologist is responsible for delivering exceptional patient care within the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. Under the guidance of the Laboratory Manager, this role encompasses both technical and caregiving responsibilities for adult and elderly patients. The technologist plays a crucial role in ensuring high-quality care for individuals undergoing invasive cardiovascular and peripheral procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize critical thinking and professional judgment to assess and manage patient care effectively.
  • Operate advanced radiographic equipment in the cardiac cath lab, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
  • Assist Cardiologists during invasive procedures, including scrubbing, equipment management, and hemodynamic calculations.
  • Support the professional development of team members through orientation and educational initiatives.
  • Maintain an organized inventory of supplies and equipment, adhering to cost-effective practices.
  • Ensure radiation safety protocols are followed by all personnel in the cardiac cath lab.
  • Provide care for both scheduled and emergency procedures.
  • Commit to ongoing personal and professional development.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited Radiology program.
  • Valid RT License in the State of Ohio.
  • Preferred: Current ARRT Registry.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
  • Preferred: 1+ years of experience in Interventional Radiology or related fields.
  • New graduates are encouraged to apply.

  • Ability to lift, turn, and transport patients and radiologic equipment of varying weights.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and maintain professionalism in all interactions.

  • Willingness to work in environments with potential exposure to blood, body fluids, and radiation.

Physical and Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work staggered shifts and be available for on-call duties as needed.
  • Capability to perform under pressure in challenging situations.
  • Proficiency in assisting patients during transfers and managing physical demands of the role.
