Position Overview:

The Registered Nurse in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab is responsible for delivering exceptional patient care through comprehensive assessment and evaluation. The RN will administer medications safely in accordance with state regulations and hospital protocols while advocating for patient safety through active participation in quality improvement initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect and document patient clinical data prior to procedures, including thorough assessments and medical history.
  • Conduct nursing assessments, record findings, and alert physicians to any irregularities.
  • Provide continuous updates to the interventionist and clinical team during procedures, ensuring effective vascular access care, including cardiac monitoring and pain management.
  • Monitor patient vital signs (HR, BP, O2Sat, EKG) throughout procedures.
  • Document patient hemodynamics and procedural details accurately.
  • Assist in post-procedure care in the recovery area.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and the healthcare team to establish and implement care plans.
  • Identify discharge requirements and facilitate appropriate discharge planning.
  • Perform nursing interventions and treatments as directed by the physician.
  • Maintain high standards of care in alignment with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Manage specialized patient care equipment as required by the clinical setting.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments while ensuring adequate inventory of medical supplies.
  • Serve as charge nurse when designated, overseeing operations and continuity of care.
  • Set patient care priorities and delegate nursing tasks based on patient needs and staff competencies.
  • Engage in educational, research, and performance improvement initiatives, providing health education to patients and families.
  • Develop and adapt educational materials to meet the needs of patients and their families.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:


Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state is required. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA) must be obtained within six months of hire and maintained throughout employment.

A minimum of one year of recent RN experience is required, with a preference for candidates with intensive care or emergency experience.


Physical Demands:

This position requires a full range of motion, manual dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. The RN must be able to stand and walk for extended periods and have corrected hearing and vision within normal ranges. There may be exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.

Physical requirements include:

  • Occasionally exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force.
  • Frequently exerting 10 to 25 pounds of force.
  • Constantly exerting up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.
