Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Cardiovascular Catheterization Technologist provides essential patient care within the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, operating under the guidance of the Laboratory Manager. This role encompasses both technical and caregiving responsibilities for adult and elderly patients, ensuring high-quality care during invasive diagnostic and therapeutic cardiovascular procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize critical thinking and professional judgment to assess and manage patient care effectively.
  • Operate and troubleshoot various radiographic equipment in the cardiac catheterization setting, ensuring optimal functionality.
  • Assist Cardiologists during invasive procedures, including preparation and equipment management.
  • Support the professional development of team members through training and educational initiatives.
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of supplies and equipment, employing cost-effective practices.
  • Act as a safety advocate within the lab, promoting radiation safety protocols among staff.
  • Provide care for both scheduled and emergency procedures as required.
  • Commit to ongoing personal and professional development.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited Radiology program.
  • Current RT License in the State of Ohio.
  • Preferred: Current ARRT Registry.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
  • Preferred: 1+ years of experience in Interventional Radiology or related fields; new graduates are encouraged to apply.

  • Ability to assist in lifting, moving, and positioning patients and radiologic equipment.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with patients, physicians, and staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to follow directions and complete assigned tasks.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules as needed.
  • Capability to work in environments with potential exposure to blood, body fluids, and radiation.

Physical and Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work staggered shifts and be available for on-call duties.
  • Capacity to perform effectively in high-pressure situations.
  • Exposure to blood and body fluids may occur.
  • Exposure to radiation is an inherent part of the role.
  • Proficiency in assisting patients during transfers and positioning.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks related to patient care and equipment management.

Procedural Support: Provide skilled technical assistance during diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures, adhering to established standards and protocols.

Patient-Centered Care: Deliver care tailored to the procedural needs and requirements of patients, under the supervision of physicians and nursing staff.

Education and Support: Offer educational resources and support to patients, families, and healthcare team members.
