Job Overview
We are seeking qualified candidates for the position of Biological Monitor in the Central Valley region. Candidates must possess prior experience in biological monitoring within California.

Key Responsibilities
As a Biological Monitor, you will be responsible for:
  • Assessing and understanding wildlife species in the Central Valley, including small mammals, birds, and reptiles.
  • Ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations and possessing a thorough understanding of the environmental regulatory process.
  • Monitoring ground-disturbing activities such as mass grading, grubbing, weed abatement, trenching, and excavation on both disturbed and undisturbed land.
  • Conducting field inspections of proposed project sites.
  • Implementing biological monitoring at construction locations to enforce mitigation measures.
  • Carrying out field surveys and recording data for scientific and compliance purposes using established methodologies.
  • Interpreting maps and preparing daily progress reports as required by the project.
  • Utilizing GPS equipment (Garmin/Trimble) for data collection in the field.
  • Traveling to various field locations for extended periods and working in challenging weather and terrain.
  • Working independently or collaboratively as part of a team.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Biology or a closely related discipline.
  • Previous experience in construction monitoring within similar Californian environments.
  • A strong understanding of local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment as a team player.
  • Strong business ethics, including the safeguarding of proprietary and confidential information.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) and familiarity with project tracking software and databases.
  • Experience with species such as the Tipton Kangaroo Rat, San Joaquin Antelope Squirrel, California Tiger Salamander, San Joaquin Kit Fox, and Giant Garter Snake.
